How Much Do Adult Chat Lines Cost? Charges Explained

Updated 15 October 2026

The short answer: every adult chat line on this site costs £1.00 per minute, plus an access charge set by your own phone provider. The access charge is the part that surprises people, because it varies by network and is often higher from a mobile. This guide explains both parts, shows worked examples, and gives you simple habits for keeping the total exactly where you want it. Updated 15 October 2026.

The two charges that make up the price

A call to a premium-rate adult chat line is billed in two layers. They appear together on your phone bill, but they come from two different companies, and it is worth understanding the difference.

  • The service charge. This is the price of the chat itself. On every number on this site it is £1.00 per minute, shown beside each number so there is no guesswork.
  • The access charge. This is added by your network, the company that provides your phone line or mobile contract. It pays for carrying the call to a premium-rate number, and each provider sets its own rate. Landline, mobile, pay-as-you-go and contract customers can all pay different amounts.

Because the access charge belongs to your provider, we cannot state it for you. The honest way to find it is to check your provider’s price list for calls to numbers beginning 09, or to ask their customer service. Many providers publish a page of “calls to service numbers” that lists the access charge in pence per minute.

Worked examples

The figures below are illustrations only, using made-up access charges, to show how the sums work. Replace them with your own provider’s rate.

Call length Service charge (£1.00/min) Access charge if 10p/min Total
5 minutes £5.00 £0.50 £5.50
10 minutes £10.00 £1.00 £11.00
20 minutes £20.00 £2.00 £22.00
30 minutes £30.00 £3.00 £33.00

Now imagine the same calls on a network that charges 30p a minute. The ten-minute call would cost £10.00 + £3.00 = £13.00. The service charge has not changed, but the total is a fifth higher, purely because of the network. That is why it is worth looking up your own rate before you ring.

Why mobiles often cost more

Mobile networks usually set higher access charges for service numbers than landline providers do. There is no universal rule, and some contracts include allowances that do not cover premium-rate numbers at all, so a call that is free in your plan for ordinary numbers may still be billed in full. If you use a mobile, check whether your plan or bundle excludes 09 numbers, and whether pay-as-you-go credit is deducted at a different rate.

If you have both options, a landline is often the cheaper route. If you only have a mobile, the tap-to-call buttons on this site make it easy to ring, but they do not change the price.

When the meter starts

Charges begin when you are connected to the line, not when you finish dialling. If you hear a short connection message before a caller picks up, that time counts. Likewise, silence on the line is billed in exactly the same way as conversation, which is why a pause to think costs the same as a pause to laugh.

The meter stops the moment you hang up. There are no connection fees or minimum call lengths on this site: if you realise in the first thirty seconds that a call is not for you, end it and you pay only for the time you were connected.

How to keep control of your budget

  1. Decide a limit first. Before you dial, choose either a number of minutes or a total spend. A limit made before the call is easier to keep than one made during it.
  2. Use a timer. Set an alarm on your phone for a minute or two before your limit. It is the single most effective habit, and it costs nothing.
  3. Include the access charge. When you work out your budget, add your provider’s per-minute charge to the £1.00. A £20 budget buys fewer minutes than you might think.
  4. Watch your allowances. If your plan has a premium-rate spending cap or a bill limit, make sure you know where it sits.
  5. Review the bill. The itemised statement shows each call with its duration and cost. Check it once, and you will have a precise picture of what a typical call costs you.

Is it good value?

That depends on what you want from the call. Compared with other forms of adult entertainment, phone chat has a clear, upfront price and no subscription, no membership and no card details to hand over. You choose how long to talk, and you can stop at any moment. Many regulars treat it like a coffee shop visit: a modest, predictable treat rather than an open-ended expense.

Others prefer a longer, rarer call to frequent short ones. There is no right answer; the important thing is that you decide the budget rather than letting the clock decide it for you.

Questions about cost

Is there a minimum call length?

No. You pay for the minutes you are connected, and nothing else. If you hang up after thirty seconds, you are billed for thirty seconds of service plus your network’s access charge for the same period.

Why does my bill show two charges?

Because the service charge goes to the service provider and the access charge goes to your network. Both relate to the same call, and both are billed per minute.

Can I pay by card?

No. This site does not take card payments. Calls are billed through your phone, so the cost simply appears on your bill or comes out of your pay-as-you-go credit.

Will the cost be hidden on my bill?

No. Service details may appear on the bill, and the call will be listed with its cost. If privacy matters to you, think about who has access to the account, and read our guide to staying safe and private.

What if I was charged more than I expected?

Call the Customer Careline on 0203 455 2145. You can also contact your network about its access charge, or raise a complaint with the Phone-paid Services Authority.
